Paterno Family: JoePa Continues To Fight The Paterno family has refuted reports that Joe Paterno passed away Saturday but confirm his condition is "serious." Conflicting Reports on JoePa's Condition A report by CBS Sports.com that Joe Paterno passed away is contradicted by his family tonight.  His son Scott Paterno tweeted "Dad is alive but in serious condition.  We continue to ask for your prayers and privacy at this time.
